At Sonoma State, we believe great ideas can come from anywhere.
Think Outside the Box is an invitation to our entire community – students, faculty, staff, alumni, friends, neighbors, and community partners – to imagine what is possible for Sonoma State and share the ideas, aspirations, and possibilities that can help shape our future.
The initiative began at our Fall 2026 Kickoff, where members of the campus community filled our interactive installation with ideas about what Sonoma State could become. But that was only the beginning.
Throughout the year, we will continue the conversation and invite voices from across our campus and broader community to participate.
What possibility excites you most for Sonoma State?
Maybe it's a new idea. A different way of doing something. An opportunity you see for our students or our community. Something we should explore, create, strengthen, or reimagine.
Whatever your idea, we want to hear it.

This is just the beginning. As ideas are shared, we'll look for emerging themes, possibilities, and connections to work happening across the university.
